FROM Jorge M. Gonzalez, City Manager
DATE February 22, 2010 i,'
SUBJECT: RED LIGHT CAMERA WARNING P IOD/START DATE
At the Thursday, February 18, 2010 Finance and Citywide Projects Committee meeting, the
red light camera enforcement program status was discussed at some length by members of
the Committee. As a result of this discussion, a numberof contract recommendations will be
sent to the full City Commission for action at the March 10, 2010 City Commission meeting.
One specific rewmmendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee was that the
start date for citation issuance be delayed until April 5, 2010. The delay in the start date
essentially extends the warning period for the red light camera enforcementforan additional
thirty day perivd. Originally, citations were due to be issued on or about March 2. 2010.
As the extended waming period/delayed start date for citation issuance needs to be
effectuated prior to the March 10, 2010 City Commission meeting, the City Administration
informed the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee that the recommendation to extend
the waming period and delay the start date for citation issuance would be implemented and
the full Cily Commission informed of such action.
A formal amendment in the ACS contract will need to be approved by the members of the
City Commission at the March 10, 2010 City Commission meeting in order to ratify this
specific recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Cumrnillee.
