A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
URGING THE FLORIDA STATE LEGISLATURE TO
ENCOURAGE OTHER GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES TO
GO "GREEN" BY ADVOCATING FOR AND UTILIZING
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICES.
WHEREAS, many governmental agencies throughout the United States have promoted
and focused on going green by utilizing many different initiatives; and
WHEREAS, with the invent of modem technology and to further green efforts, many
public sector agencies are utilizing netbooks during official public meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the City of North Miami Beach recognize the
responsibility and obligation to presen a our environment for future generations by implementing
green measures throughout the City ofNorth Miami Beach; and

WHEREAS, the packets for some public meetings are in excess of 100 pages, and the
i printing and distributing of the paper information packets for government officials and staff have
f become extremely expensive and time consuming; and
WHEREAS, due to the troubled economy and severe shortfalls within governmental
budgets, the Mayor and Council of the Ciry of North Miami Beach believe that the use of
netbooks and other available modem technological devices by governmental entities would
benefit all citizens within the State of Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of North Miami Beach

Section 1. The Mayor and Council of the City of North Miami Beach, Florida, hereby
strongly urge the Florida State Legislature to pass legislation to advocate for and encourage
governmental entities to go "green" by utilizing netbooks and other modem technological
devices.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this
Resolution to all State Representatives, State Senators, and the presiding Officers and Council
members of the municipalities in Miami-Dade County.
Section 3. The Mayor and Council of the City of North Miami Beach, Florida, hereby
direct the City's state lobbyists to advocate for legislation set forth in Section 1.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City of North Miami Beach City Council at the
regular meeting assembled this 16th day of February, 2010.
