SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation July event I ~ ~~-
This Letter to Commission is intended to provide you with information on some exciting upcoming events
in our Parks and Recreation Department.
PLAYGROUND REVUE
The City of Miami. Beach Parks & Recreation Department cordially.invites you to attend the 67t"Annual
Playground Revue at the Fillmore Miami Beach on Thursday, July 15, .2010. Playground Revue, a
traditional fun-filled night of entertainment, showcases dance performances by children that attend-the
Parks and Recreation summer day camps.
There will be two presentations of this year's performance theme, "Miami Beach Goes Disco."
The presentation by ourjuniors and teens (grades 4 -12) will take place at 7:00 p.m. Over 700 children
from the Scott Rakow Youth Center, 21St Recreation Center and North Shore Park will perform to songs
from the .Disco era."
Primer campers grades 1-3 from Muss Park and North Shore Park and Youth Center. will perform at
North Shore Park on Friday, July 16 at 6:00 p.m. Flamingo Park primers, on the other hand, will perform
at 21St Street Recreation Center on July 29t" at 6:.00 p.m.
We hope you can join us at any of the presentations.
SENIORS' SUMMER BLAST
In an effort to continue meeting the needs of our "young at heart" population, the City of Miami Beach
Parks & Recreation Department and Global Spectrum will also be hosting a Summer Blast Party for
Miami Beach senior citizens on Tuesday, July 27t", from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Convention Center, Hall
D Ballroom, 1901 Convention Center Drive.
Seniors will have a chance to mingle, meet new friends and enjoy an evening of food, fun and dancing.
Events like this are hosted throughout the year to bring seniors from various assisted living facilities
together for a fun night of entertainment.
