A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MIAMI
BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO DONATE OBSOLETE 911
EMERGENCY TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT IN "AS IS" CONDITION TO
THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES AND CITY OF MIAMI TO BE UTILIZED
BY THE CORAL GABLES POLICE DEPARTMENT AND MIAMI
POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, On December 10, 2008, the Public Safety Communications Unit of the
Miami Beach Police Department relocated to a new communications center, which resulted in
the emergency 911 Positron telephone communications equipment (the "Equipment") to
become obsolete; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, by and through the Miami Beach Police
Department, has acquired new communication equipment for the communications center, and
to continue maintaining the Equipment would be cost prohibitive for the City of Miami Beach;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Coral Gables Police and City of Miami Police Departments have
expressed a need for this Equipment, and have determined that such Equipment would prove to
be a valuable asset for the enhancement of their respective emergency telephone
communications systems; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach will not be subject to any costs associated with the
donation of the Equipment, and will realize a cost benefit by not having to maintain the
Equipment by the Miami Beach Police Department or the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, to authorize the Miami Beach
Police Department to donate obsolete 911 emergency telephone equipment in "as is" condition
to the City of Coral Gables and City of Miami to be utilized by the. Coral Gables Police
Department and Miami Police Department.

relocation and acquisition of the new equipment, the Miami Beach Police Department has no need to
maintain an obsolete 911 Positron telephone communications system. The City of Coral Gables Police
and City of Miami Police Department have a need for this equipment and would prove to be an invaluable
asset to enhance their emergency equipment. This donation would enhance the working relationship
between the Miami Beach Police Department and the Coral Gables and Miami Police Departments benefit
these Departments significantly.
