Scott Tim m
~ Seth Wasserman
^ Parrot Jungle Trail (Frontage Road) wilt be reduced to one lane just west of
the entrance to Miami Children's Museum to west of the entrance to Jungle
Island (continuing through Monday, September 20t").
^ Other closure includes: Exit to Parrot Jungle Traii from eastbound McArthur
Causeway from 10p on .Monday,- September 13"' until Tuesday, September
14t" at 5a.
^ Flagmen will be directing traffic from west of entrance of Miami Children's
Museum to the westof entrance of Jungle island {under bridge).
• Road kept open, leading to great Labor Day Weekend; stopped all traffic,
everybody off road and all construction shutdown by noon on Friday.
^ Temporary closure beneath McArthur opened and everyone off road (Jungle
Island RoadJCircumference Road/Frontage Road) -there was complete
capacity.
' ^ Wednesday night, September 1St" through the morning of September 16t",
' will open up eastbound Jungle Island Road and be on new part of that road;
hope by Tuesday of following week to open up the rest.
^ Once open, continue utility work; only shutdown will be in October with
continuation when heading on westbound lane, bus stop in front of Jungle
Island will be moved back 10 feet, putting in utility drainage (otherthan this,
' no other impacts):-
^ Currently seen: New cranes as you come off McArthur on right side,
eastbound lane are cranes from Malcolm Drilling which is specialty drilling
company that will be doing 7 foot bore holes, 120 feet down which•will
continue far the next two.{2) weeks.
^ When both roads are open, Malcolm Drilling will be company that will do
support walls and pad for beginning of tunnel
^ 1n approximately three (3) months, cranes will be flipped over into median
and all. construction work currently seen to right, will then be in median;
move McArthur 50 feet to right, looking to do this during last week in
October and should be seamless transition. •
= Summer responsibility has been keeping capacity, flow and erisuring needs
of Miami Beach and others are met.
^ .Only complaint has been on Jungle Island Road.
^ Hired all local flaggers who are doing terrific job.
^ All flaggers who pass drug and background checks, are then placed. in O1T
Program, go on to become laborers; no one stays a flagger/part of moving
up and with the exception of 27 people they came.in with, all hires have
been local, up fio 117 people-and this will peak at'S00.
Sincerely,
Transportation and Parking Committee
