Seth Wasserman The Transportation and Parking Committee met on January 3, 2011 and
were provided with the below update on the Port of Miami Tunnel Project.
1. Follow -up on Hurricane Emergency Plans:
There will be two (2) outer walls built from the entrance of the tunnel to
the bridge which will be used as a barrier to prevent water from
entering the tunnel.
There will also be a waterproof door that will be built into the entrance
of the tunnel which will be lowered to seal the entrance of the tunnel.
2. Follow -up on design of tunnel entrance:
The city will need to follow -up with county to ensure they are included
in the design process of the entrance of tunnel; includes the two (2)
barrier walls.
3. There are plans to repave the westbound side of the causeway; should
take place soon.
4. Some nighttime closures will still take place.
Sincerely,
