G A CERTIFICATE OFAPPROPRIATENESS FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE .TH STREET RESTROOMS, A NON - CONTRIBUTING FACILITY LOCATED • 599 OCEAN DRIVE. WHEREAS, the 6 Street r- stroom facilities, located within Lummus Park at the extension of 6 Street, are in critical need of re•lacement; and WHEREAS, the existing facilities are deteriorated, and not adequate to serve the large volume of users of the park, as wel as visitors attending large City sponsored events in surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, the 14 Stre -t restroom facilities, also located within Lummus Park and completed in 2005, were designee by Bermello Ajamil & Partners (B &A); and WHEREAS, CIP request -d a proposal from B &A for the design and construction administration services of the 6 S reet Restrooms, utilizing the documents previously produced for the 14 Street Restroom facilities c s a basis of design; and WHEREAS, since negotia ions with B &A were not successful, CIP requested a proposal from Corzo, Castella, Carballo, Th•mpson and Salman (C3TS), given their previous experience in the design of the beachfront restr•oms located on 21 Street, 35 46 and 64 Streets; and WHEREAS, on January 1 2011, a Notice to Proceed was issued to C3TS, via the Miami - Dade County School Board Contr:ct for: site adaptation drawings, construction documents, local and state permitting assistance, biding assistance, and construction administration services; and WHEREAS, on April 12, 2111, the Historic Preservation Board (HPB) voted to recommend that the request for the Certifica 1- of Appropriateness for demolition of the existing 6th Street Restrooms facility be granted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE I RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, F • RIDA, that, following a duly noticed public hearing, the Mayor and City Commission hereby acc: pt the recommendation of the Historic Preservation Board and grant a Certificate of Appropriaten ss for the demolition of the 6th Street Restrooms, located at 599 Ocean Drive.
