Project description as revised of applicable) based upon the City Commission approved award: Changes to projects awarded under the Artistic Disciplines program must still adhere to the requirement thatthework is -new or has never before been presented in Miami Beach. 2011 was a difficult year for Arts at St Johns. We did not receive several anticipated grants from the state and from foundations. Ticket sales were down. Our Artistic Director, David Kingery, was forced to leave- and take a temporary job outside the state. David did the Sleepless Night and Musical Theatre productions, plus the singing classes. He also coordinated the Arts Empowerment workshops. David will return in January for a cabaret My Miami Beach, with some of "the songs from Miami Beach — the Musical. -Our Dance Empowerment Director, Tiffany Madera, left to :go to graduate school in NYC. We therefore have eliminated those programs by David and Tiffany. We also eliminated the Visual Arts exhibits because they were rather time- and dollar - costly, but brought in little revenue — and additionally, our traditional venue, the Miami Beach Botanical Garden is undergoing renovations and is re- assessing their visual arts component. Since grants from the City of Miami Beach and Miami -Dade County are lower than in prior years, we decided to simplify our offerings and emphasis quality. We now have two new Project Directors, William Carney, Classical series, and Nestor.Zurita, Jazz series. Both of these series..feature many local and emerging artists. We will offer two concerts minimum month. The Writers Group has morphed into a Women's Writers Group and is continuing weekly. We are intentional on continuing our Educational and Cultural programs and will work with several local organizations and' institutions to develop these programs for the 2011 -12 season. Wewilf continuing to offer quality programming, with an emphasis on local and emerging artists. 6 of 9 Exhibit 2 -A: Project Budget / Revised Total Project Budget Name of organization: Arts at St. John's Dates) of Project:, Oct.
