98-22929 RESO RESOLUTION NO, 98-22929 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING A CASH DONATION OF $300 FROM MR. ALAN I, W ASERSTEIN - ST TROPEZ L.c. FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING FURNITURE AND FIXTURES TO IMPROVE LIVING CONDITIONS AT THE CITY'S FIRE STATIONS, WHEREAS, the City has provided an increase in funding this fiscal year to improve the living conditions in its fire stations; and WHEREAS, concerned residents and businesses have expressed an interest in donating furniture, equipment, fixtures and money to improve living conditions for fire personnel in the stations; and WHEREAS, Mr. Alan 1. Waserstein, in response to a news article in the Miami Herald, is donating a check, in the amount of $300, for the purpose of purchasing items needed to enhance living conditions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City Commission herein accept a donation of$300 from Mr. Alan I. Waserstein - St Tropez L.C., for the purpose of purchasing furniture and fixtures to improve living conditions at the City's fire stations. ALAN I. W ASERSTEIN - ST TROPEZ L. C. FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING FURNITURE AND FIXTURES TO IMPROVE LIVING CONDITIONS AT FIRE STATIONS. ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution. BACKGROUND As a result of several news articles in the print media regarding living conditions in our Fire Stations, residents and businesses have expressed an interest in donating furniture, equipment, fixtures and money to improve conditions for our personnel in the fire stations. In response to an article in the Miami Herald, Mr. Alan Waserstein is donating a check in the amount of $300 to be used to help purchase the items needed. ANALYSIS The City Administration has increased funding to improve the living conditions in all our fire stations for next fiscal year. However, the generous response from Mr. Waserstein and others who wish to donate is welcomed and appreciated. This positive response is indicative of the excellent service provided by our fire-rescue personnel to the residents and visitors of Miami Beach.
