Holiday Happenings The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to invite you to celebrate the holiday season with the Parks and Recreation Department. North Beach Nights & Lights — Starting Friday, November 25 and repeating each Friday through December 23, the City of Miami Beach will be hosting five weeks of holiday fun at the Miami Beach's Normandy Fountain. The event will include free entertainment (live performances, karaoke, dancing & music) every Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy the lighting display at the historic fountain and the magical holiday displays at North Beach restaurants and merchants. Official Holiday Lighting Ceremony — On November 30, the City will officially "light up" City Hall for the holiday season, as the City's Menorah, Christmas Tree and all of City Hall will dazzle in lights. The Scott Rakow Youth Center after school program members will entertain us with a medley of Holiday tunes beginning at 6:00 p.m. Winter Wonderland — On Friday, December 2, the North Shore Park and Youth Center will present its 7 Annual Winter Wonderland from 6:00 p.m. — 9:00 p.m. Miami Beach residents and guests will attend the largest "Snow Village" on Miami Beach, filled with rides, food, games, and our famous 50 TONS OF SNOW! Mr. & Mrs. Claus will visit from the North Pole to take pictures with everyone. In addition, children from the Parks & Recreation after school programs will entertain the audience with special performances. Residents will have a taste from some local restaurants that will be participating in the event (Burgers & Shakes, El Rancho Grande, Sazon Cuban Cuisine and Tamarind Thai Restaurant). Playtime Holiday Show — On December 16, the Parks and Recreation's Playtime program from Flamingo Park and North Shore Park & Youth Center will present their holiday show at the 21 Street Recreation Center at 11:00 a.m. Guests will enjoy food, refreshments, a special appearance from Santa Claus and holiday caroling performed by all children.
