SUBJECT: Household Hazardous Waste Drop -off & Document Shredding Event
This Letter to Commission is intended to provide information regarding the upcoming free
Household Hazardous Waste Drop -off and Shredding Event
The Public Works Environmental Resource Management and Sanitation Divisions are hosting a free
hazardous waste drop off and shredding service for residents on Sunday, December 4, 2011
between. 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Residents can drop off any household chemicals, electronics, or
hazardous waste and take advantage of free document shredding service at the parking lot Located
on 40 Street & Chase Avenue.
Leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients are
considered to be "household hazardous waste ". Examples of such products include paints,
cleaners, motor oil, propane, pool chemicals, batteries, fertilizers and pesticides. These products
contain hazardous ingredients that require special care when disposed of in order to protect human
health. and the quality of environment. Improper disposal of household hazardous wastes, such as
pouring: these substances down the sink drain, on the ground, into storm drains, or putting them out
with the trash, can pollute the environment and impact our soil and water quality.
International Data Depository will be providing free shredding services to help residents protect
themselves from becoming identity theft victims. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the
free document shredding services for credit card offers, receipts, check stubs, old bills and other
outdated personal 'documents.
