DATE: February 23, 2012
SUBJECT: SOUTH BEACH ANIMAL HOSPITAL/MOTORCYCLE PARKING - UPDATE
The purpose of this LTC is to report back to the Mayor and City Commission regarding an
inquiry by Mayor Bower at the February 8, 2012, City Commission Meeting. Mayor Bower
inquired about motorcycle parking spaces that were recently installed in front of the South
Beach Animal Hospital, located at 1874 West Avenue. The hospital had concerns regarding
their customer loading needs and the location selected for the motorcycle spaces.
Parking Department staff contacted the South Beach Animal Hospital and met with their
representatives on site. This resulted in an amicable and expedited resolution which
addressed the hospital's needs and salvaged two motorcycle parking spaces that were
subsequently relocated nearby. The South Beach Animal Hospital is now satisfied with the
parking configuration fronting their property.
Moving forward, the Parking Department has established an acknowledgment form which
will be executed by the owner or authorized representative of the property fronting the
proposed location slated for motorcycle/scooter parking spaces prior to their installation.
If you should have any further questions, please contact Saul Frances, Parking Director at
extension 6483.
