AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AND FRIENDS OF THE BASS MUSEUM,
INC., FOR EXPANSION OF "IDEA @theBass" ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS.
This Amen went No. 2 t the P ofessional Services Agreement, is made and
entered into this day of , 2012, by and between the CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, a municipal corporation having its principal office at 1700
Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33139 (City), and FRIENDS OF THE
BASS MUSEUM, INC., a Florida corporation, whose address is 2121 Park Avenue,
Miami Beach, Florida, 33139 (hereinafter referred to as Consultant).
RECITALS
WHEREAS, on September 27, 2010, the Mayor and City Commission approved
Resolution No. 2010-27504,. authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a
Professional Services Agreement with Consultant to expand its "IDEA @theBass"
education program to include every 4th and 5th-grade classroom in Miami Beach for the
Fiscal Year 2010/2011, in the amount of$50,000 (the Agreement); and
WHEREAS, the City has the option, at its sole discretion, to extend said
Agreement for two (2) additional years, contingent upon funding availability; and
WHEREAS, on September 27, 2012, the Mayor and City Commission approved
the City's Fiscal Year 2012/2013 Budget, which included funding available to extend and
expand arts integration services and programming of said Agreement for a second
additional one (1) year term.
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual premises, covenants and
agreements herein contained, and other good and valuable consideration, in receipt and
adequacy of which are hereby acknowledged and intending to be legally bound, the City
and Consultant hereby amend the Agreement as follows:
1. The City hereby exercises the second renewal term under the
Agreement, which shall commence on October 1, 2012, and shall end on
September 30, 2013 (the Second Renewal Term). Except as amended
herein, all terms and conditions of the Agreement shall apply to the
Second Renewal Term.
2. Consultant shall complete the Scope of Work (Services), attached and
incorporated as Exhibit "A" hereto. Said Scope of Work shall be
completed by no later than September 30, 2013.
3. Consultant shall be compensated by the City for the services to be
provided and satisfactorily performed, as set forth in Exhibit "A", during
the Second Renewal Term, for a fee not to exceed fifty thousand
dollars ($50,000), inclusive of Reimbursable Expenses and any other
consultants necessary to complete the scope of work described in Exhibit
"A". The aforementioned fee shall be paid in accordance with Section 4
of the Agreement.

4. Except as amended herein, all other terms and conditions of the
Agreement shall remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, this Agreement has been duly executed by the parties
hereto as of the day and year first above written.

First Quarter of 20112-2013 Fiscal year(Oct.7-Dec.31,2012)
• Presentation of Professional Development workshops. Each teacher will receive a CD-Rom
with a PowerPoint presentation illustrating every work of art the UNNATURAL exhibit and a
Design Thinking Tool kit for teachers,which is a 100 page guide published by IDEO,the
company that has been the pioneer in implementing Design Thinking strategies in the
American education system.
The Bass Museum will coordinate a culminating student art exhibition in April 2013 to
showcase student work generated from the curriculum.As part of authentic assessment,
teachers will have the opportunity to participate in the exhibition.The student work may be
submitted in a variety of formats that may include artwork,written expressions,reflections,
sketch journal entries or video recordings.The work will be adjudicated and prizes will be
awarded to both students and teachers at the closing reception.
The general theme of each workshop: Learn to trust or not trust your senses as you make
observations of"living" and non-living things. Raise questions, identify, reflect and reach
conclusions about the natural and UNNATURAL world as you explore a manipulated view of
nature.
For these workshops we printed 30,000 large format post cards,to create classroom sets
featuring six works of art from the exhibition. A PDF of the Unnatural Teacher Guide which
illustrates the images and how we used them in the workshops to develop lesson plan ideas.
Environments a PD for 4th and 5th Grade Science and Art teachers, is an interactive workshop
with museum gallery walks and hands-on activity that uses organic materials to make dioramas
and terrariums.
• 2 hour Inventive Art classes offered one Sunday afternoon a month in the Creativity
Center. —more intense art study with a certified art teacher, using design thinking
methodology,class is limited to 30,with scholarships given to students from partner
schools in Miami Beach.
• Free Field Trips offered to each partner school.
• Free weekend Portfolio Development classes offered to 4th and 5th grade students every
Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 2 PM.
• Free Family Days offered the last Sunday of the month in September and October,
including a display of artwork made by student sin the portfolio classes and art activities
related to our exhibitions.
Second Quarter(Jan 1-March 31,2013)

• Professional Development workshop for 4th and 5th teachers on Egyptian Art and
Culture, in partnership with the Haitian Heritage Museum of Miami.The theme is
"Exploring the roots of Diaspora culture—Learning about Egyptian art and Discovering
the descendants of Middle Easterners in the Caribbean."As part of its education
outreach programming,our museum is designing a lesson plan and workshop that
features the museum's Egyptian Mummy and its significance to the culture of Africa.
The bass museum will provide posters and PowerPoint slide shows on Egyptian culture
to teachers and trainers at the Haitian Heritage Museum of Miami This will be a unit
added to the existing HCHM program of in-classroom curriculum to 4th and 5th grade
students county-wide, and will be offered as a workshop that includes art activities for
children and families at either or both our museums at least three times a year.
• Classroom visits by Dr. von Lates and Outreach Coordinator Mariana Corbalans to monitor
plans, evaluate the program and measure the process
• Free Field Trips offered to partner schools.
• Family days in January, February and March
• Free weekend Portfolio Development classes offered to 4th and 5th grade students every
Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 2 PM.
• 2 hour Inventive Art classes offered one Sunday afternoon a month in the Creativity Center.
• December –All-day Winter Break Art Camp. Offered over two weeks, with scholarships
given to selected 4th and 5th grade students.
Third Quarter(April 1-June 30,2013)
• Professional Development workshop for 4th and 5th grade teachers on the Golden Age of
Spanish Art and Culture,which highlights our exhibit of seven paintings on long term
loan from the Cintas Foundation as well as an exhibit of video art by Eve Sussman, who
translates well known masterworks into large scale re-enactments. Premiered at the
2004 Whitney Biennial,89 Seconds at Alcnzar meticulously creates the moments
directly before and after the image portrayed by Diego Velasquez in Las Meninas(1656).
• April 2013 Exhibition of artwork and writing projects created at partner schools based
on the IDEA @thebass curriculum. This will take place in the Creativity Center at the
museum.
• Free Field Trips offered to partner schools.
• 2 hour Inventive Art classes offered one Sunday afternoon a month in the Creativity
Center.
• Classroom visits by Dr. von Lates and Marina Corbalans to monitor plans, evaluate the
program and measure the process

Fourth Quarter(July 1-September 30,2013)
• June—August--We will hire teachers from Miami Beach schools to spend at least 40
hours working with us to design lesson plans appropriate for 4th and 5th grade language
arts,social studies, math and science.
• IDEA @the Bass 10-week all-day summer camp. At least 15 students per week will get
scholarships,with priority given to 0 and 5"grade students enrolled at Beach partner
schools. Eligibility will be based on enrollment in the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch
program.
• September- Professional development for 45h and 5th grade language arts and social
studies teachers
• October- Professional development for teams of art teachers, math and science
teachers. Dealing with 4th and 5th grade curriculum
• Inventive Art Class offered in September
• Free Family Days,offered in June,July,August,September
