Should the City of Miami Beach have a scheduled election or wish to conduct a special election along with
the countywide 2014 Primary and /or General Elections, the deadlines listed above must be followed, in
order to allow time for ballot preparation and to meet State - mandated deadlines to mail absentee
ballots to overseas voters..
Pursuant to Florida Statute § 100.151,. "...the governing authority of a municipality.shall not callany special
election until notice is given to the supervisor of elections and his (her) consent obtained as to a date..."
Once approval is obtained from the supervisor of elections, the resolution and /or ordinance to call a special
election must be passed to meet the deadlines listed above.
