2013-28147 Reso RESOLUTION NO. 2013-28147 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD/COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO AUTOMATICALLY WITHDRAW ITEMS REFERRED TO CITY COMMISSION COMMITTEES IF NOT HEARD WITHIN SIX (6) MONTHS FROM THEIR REFERRAL DATE AND RECOMMENDING INCLUSION OF A REPORT IN CITY COMMISSION AGENDAS TRANSMITTING A LIST OF WITHDRAWN ITEMS. WHEREAS, the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee discussed City Commission Committee referrals at its February 19, 2013 meeting; and WHEREAS, the Committee requested all items referred to various City Commission Committees should be heard as soon as possible regardless of whether the referring City Commissioner is present for the discussion; and WHEREAS, the Committee also requested elected officials should be noticed of when their items will be discussed at committee and agreed that one courtesy deferral should be accommodated if the Commissioner is out of town or unable to attend; and WHEREAS, the Committee unanimously passed a motion recommending that items referred to City Commission Committees be automatically withdrawn if not heard within six (6) months from their referral date and a report be included in the City Commission agenda transmitting a list of withdrawn items. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby accept the recommendation of the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee automatically withdrawing items referred to City Commission Committees if not heard within six (6) months from their referral date and recommending inclusion of a report in the City Commission agenda transmitting a list of withdrawn items. Commissioner Libbin requested a discussion regarding items referred to Commission Committees if not heard within six (6) months of its referral dates the items should either be referred again to the Committee or removed altogether. The item was heard at the February 19, 2013 Neighborhood / Community Affairs Committee. The Committee discussed the subject and ultimately unanimously passed a motion that all items referred to various City Commission Committees should be heard as soon as possible regardless of whether the referring City Commissioner is present for the discussion.
