A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE ACCEPTANCE OF $119500 IN DONATIONS AND
SPONSORSHIPS MADE TO THE CITY FOR THE 2014 FOOD TRUCK
AND MUSIC FESTIVAL, THE FIRE ON THE FOURTH EVENT, AND
THE ANNUAL FAMILY SERVICE DAY, AS WELL AS
RETROACTIVELY APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
ACCEPTANCE OF $13350 IN DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS
MADE TO THE CITY FOR THE 2014 PARKS AND RECREATION
CHEERLEADING PROGRAM, THE NORTH SHORE PARK SOCIAL
CLUB POT LUCK EVENT, AND THE WOMEN WORTH KNOWING
EVENT.
WHEREAS, in 2014, the City of Miami Beach hosted community events including:
• The Food Truck and Music Festival,
• the annual Fire on the Fourth event,
• the Family Service Day event,
• the Parks and Recreation cheerleading program,
• the North Shore Park Social Club pot luck event, and
• a Women Worth Knowing event; and
WHEREAS, these events showcase our local youth althetics, celebrate our
country's freedom, engage the community in projects that promote recycling, enhance
local parks (which offer free outdoor entertainment to our citizens), celebrate oustanding
women in our community, as well as bring thousands of residents and tourists together
to enjoy great food and music; and
WHEREAS, the City secured partnerships through donations and sponsorships
for these events at varying levels of support from Miami Beach Medical Group, El
Rancho Grande, Dream South Beach, Premier Produce, Miami Marathon, and City staff
worked diligently to identify funding sources to off-set the costs of producing these
events; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends the acceptance of the donations and
sponsorships, their appropriation to cover costs of the Food Truck and Music Festival,
the Fire on the Fourth Event, the Annual Family Service Day, the Parks and Recreation
cheerleading program, the North Shore Park Social Club pot luck event, and the
Women Worth Knowing event; and
WHEREAS, it is further recommended that the City Commission authorize the City
Manager, or his designee, to make any necessary reimbursements and/or expenditures
of the aforestated donations, in furtherance of, and consistent with, the aforestated
events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby approve and authorize the acceptance of $11,500 in donations and
sponsorships made to the City for the 2014 Food Truck and Music Festival, the Fire on
the Fourth event, and the Annual Family Service Day, as well as retroactively approving
and authorizing the acceptance of $1,350 in donations and sponsorships made to the
City for the 2014 Parks and Recreation Cheerleading Program, the North Shore Park
Social Club Pot Luck event, and the Women Worth Knowing event.

three residents(67%)believed the City offered the right amount of cultural activities,while 27%said there were too few. In
2005, 34%of residents thought there were too few cultural activities,and in 2009 the figure decreased to 24%.Residents of
North Beach 30% and South Pointe 31% were more likely to say there were too few cultural activities.

FUNDING
Donations(including Sponsorships)made to the City for the Food Truck and Music Festival,
Fire on the Fourth Event, Annual community Service Day, Parks and Recreation
cheerleading program, North Shore Park Social Club pot luck and Women worth Knowing
events will be expended from the coordinating city expense accounts.
ANALYSIS
