SUBJECT: RESULTS FROM BEACH FRONT RESTROOM PORTER DEMONSTRATION
DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
The following Letter to Commission is presented to provide you with initial results from a
restroom porter demonstration performed during Memorial Day Weekend.
In preparations for the highly anticipated Memorial Day weekend, the Public Works Property
Management Division got approval from the City Administration to proceed with a beachfront
restroom porter demonstration project to help maintain cleaner restroom facilities. Services
were rendered by United, a City contracted janitorial company, consisting of one dedicated
porter per building at 3rd, 10th, 14th and 21 st Streets, from 7AM to midnight.
The demonstration was found to be successful and as a result, the City Administration is
going to extend these services, during weekends and holidays through the remainder of the
2014 fiscal year. The cost associated with these expanded services will total approximately
$65,000 from June through September. During the next four(4) months, the Administration
will evaluate the program and make a recommendation for the next fiscal year, whether to
continue as is, further expand or reduce the program.
Should you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Eric Carpenter at
(305) 673-7080, ext: 6012.
