SUPPORT MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER, SEVERABILITY,
CODIFICATION AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there is a need to create certain positions, abolish certain
positions, and change the titles of certain positions in order to ensure that the
City has an employee classification and compensation system which is fair and
equitable and otherwise meets the objectives of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:

Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1605 is amended to read as follows:

SECTION 2:
REPEALER.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3:
SEVERABILITY.
If any section, subsection, clause, or provision of this
ordinance is held invalid, the remainder shall not be affected
by such invalidity.
SECTION 4:
CODIFICATION.
It is the intention of the Mayor and City Commission of the
City of Miami Beach, and it is hereby ordained that the
provisions of this ordinance shall become and be made a part of
the Code of the City of Miami Beach, Florida. The sections of
this ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish
such intention, and the word "ordinance" may be changed to
"section", "article", or other appropriate word.
SECTION 5:
EFFECTIVE DATE.
This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after adoption.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
The first reading of the Ordinance took place on February 4, 1998.
Establishing the classifications below would provide for appropriate titles and salary ranges for
individuals performing the following duties:
Graffiti Removal Coordinator ($22,401 - $35,841) - specialized technical and supervisory
work in the removal of graffiti from City buildings, structures, and other public areas.
Police Public Information Officer ($31,229 - $49,966) - responsible professional and
technical work preparing and furnishing Police Department information to the news media,
the general public, Department and City personnel, and other agencies.

The following vacant classifications are being abolished because the functions are no longer being
performed or are being performed by another classification: Assistant Development Officer, Central
Services Division Director, Contract Administrator, Development Services Coordinator, Information
Technology Specialist I (Telecom), Information Technology Specialist III (Telecom), Risk Manager,
Security Specialist I, and Security Specialist II.
The following titles will be amended as shown:
