222-2001 LTC CITY OF MIAMI BEACH
Office of the City Manager
Letter to Commission No. - ,oo I
TO:
From:
Subject:
Mayor Neisen O. Kasdin
and Members of the City Commission
BAYSHORE GOLF IOURSE
Date: October 1, 2001
In a previous Commission action, approval was given to enter into an interim Golf Course
Management Agreement with PCM for the management of the Normandy Golf Course. In
that communication it was outlined that the Bayshore Golf Course would be closed
effective October 1, 2001.
This Letter to Commission is a reminder that the Golf Course will be closed effective
October 1, 2001.
Originally, it was the City's intention to have construction commence on the Bayshore Golf
Course in October which would have coincided closely with the October 1, 2001 closure
date. As such, the City has not made arrangements for a management company to
assume any operational responsibilities for the management of the Bayshore Golf Course
after October I, 2001. The Hart Group Agreement has expired and the PCM Agreement
anticipates they will assume responsibility only at the completion of the Bayshore
construction.
The construction date for the Bayshore Golf Course has slipped slightly as a result of
needed design changes; however, we anticipate Commission action on a bid award at the
October 17 Commission Meeting and construction activities to commence shortly
thereafter. The result will be a short period of time in which the Golf Course will not be
operational even though construction activities will not have commenced. Again, the
reason is that it did not make sense to have a golf course management agreement
prepared for the short duration that is in question, or for the City to acquire a full
compliment of maintenance equipment for the short duration.
