SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation Senior S enes Update
The Parks and Recreation Department is delighted to announce that the North Shore Park Youth
Center Senior Scenes program will host an End of the Year "Senior Prom" at their facility on May
12, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Senior Scenes participants will enjoy a night of games, food, refreshments
and dancing. The night will end with the coronation of a Prom King and Queen.
In addition, the Seniors will also be participating in Older Americans Month. Each May, the
Administration for Community Living celebrates Older Americans Month to recognize older
Americans for their contributions to the nation. It provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the
importance of community engagement as a tool for enhancing the wellbeing of older adults. In
response to this year's theme, "Get into the Act,"over 40 participants in the Senior Scenes program
will take part in a "Scavenger Hunt" and a healthy picnic at South Pointe Park on May 13, 2015
at 10:00 a.m.
In the spirit of Older Americans Month, beginning May 12, 2015, senior programming will be
available at Flamingo Park. Activities will include Bingo, Walking Club, Chair Aerobics, Water
Aerobics, Field trips and more! The City is looking forward to offering these services for the Seniors
in South Beach.
