LTC 021-2016 Miami Beach Police Department to Host Second Egyptian Law Enforcement Delegation in February OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER NO. LTC# 021-2016 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO: Mayor Philip Levine and Members of he City Co mission FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager DATE: January 19, 2016 SUBJECT: Miami Beach Police Department to st Second Egyptian Law Enforcement Delegation in February Next month, the Miami Beach Police Department, in concert with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the U.S. State Department, will host a second group of approximately 10 Egyptian criminal justice officials. The purpose of this visit is to showcase best practices in a multi-disciplinary approach to sexual assault investigation. The core group will include: prosecutors, victim advocates, SANE nurse/medical, counselors, and law enforcement. An additional eight IACP representatives are anticipated to accompany the Egyptian delegation. The dates for the site visit are February 16-21st. All logistics for travel and accommodations are the responsibility of IACP. However, the Police Department may incur some ancillary costs (e.g., refreshments). This is the second time in the past several months that Miami Beach has had the opportunity to host this exciting partnership, and it is an exceptional honor for both the Police Department and the City. We look forward to showcasing our professional skill in this area of victim advocacy and criminal investigations to this international delegation. The Mayor and Commission will have two opportunities to meet members of the delegation -- on Wednesday, February 17th at 9:00 in the Community Room at the Police Department, and 12 noon that day at a luncheon at Monty's Restaurant, 300 Alton Road, Miami Beach. If any Commissioners plan to attend the morning session or the luncheon, they should contact Tricia Reeder at 305 673-7925, or they may contact her with any additional questions or concerns.
