2016-29257 Reso RESOLUTION NO. 2016-29257 - A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE DONATION OF SURPLUS MEETING ROOM CHAIRS, LECTERNS, EASELS, AND TABLES FROM THE MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER TO MIAMI BEACH SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND MYRTLE GROVE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. WHEREAS,the Miami Beach Convention Center(MBCC) has surplus meeting room chairs and equipment, including lecterns, easels, and chairs, available for donation as a result of the Convention Center renovation project; and WHEREAS, the MBCC attempted to auction the surplus chairs and equipment using the Public Surplus website; and WHEREAS, the MBCC does not have sufficient storage area to continue to store the remaining surplus chairs and equipment, which are in "as is" condition and which have a replacement value in excess of$25,000, during the Convention Center expansion and renovation; and the best interests of the City would be served by donating the surplus chairs and equipment to a public or charitable purpose; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-315(e), of the City Code,surplus stock with a replacement value in excess of$25,000 may be donated to another governmental entity,agency,or not-for-profit organization without placing the surplus stock for public sale if the donation is approved the City Commission and the City Manager discloses the value, condition, intended use of the surplus stock, and the manner in which the donation serves the best interest of the City; and WHEREAS,the Administration recommends that the Mayor and City Commission approve the donation of meeting room chairs, lecterns, easels, and tables to Miami Beach Senior High School and Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby authorize the donation surplus meeting room chairs, lecterns, easels, and tables from the Miami Beach Convention Center to Miami Beach Senior High School and Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church. Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church • 100 Red Meeting Room Chairs The Convention Center still has other items available to donate is continuing to receive inquiries about other donations and will work with the non-profit organizations on a first-come, first-serve basis.
