SUBJECT: 54" SANITARY SEWER REDUN ENT FORCE MAIN - CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The contractor accepted delivery of a 54" pipe on Wednesday January 20, 2016. The pipe will be
installed at 11th Street, between Euclid Avenue and Espanola Way. Once the pipe is installed, the
contractor will be welding the sections together. Assembly of these sections will require the cross
streets on 12th, 13th, and 14th to be blocked from through traffic. During this entire operation, Euclid
Avenue will be open for local traffic only. Parking along both sides of the street will be
maintained. Construction detour signs will be placed accordingly.
Directional drilling of the 12" diameter pilot borehole commenced today and should be completed by
Wednesday, January 27, weather permitting. The normal boring operation is between 8AM and
6PM. The most significant impact to residents will be noise associated with the drilling equipment.
After the pilot bore-hole alignment is approved, the contractor will enlarge the bore hole diameter to
72 inches. This work is scheduled to start the week of January 25th and continue for approximately
four weeks. The drilling equipment will be moved to 3rd Street sometime during these four weeks.
The Department of Public Works, Transportation Department and the Parking Department are
working closely with the contractor to minimize the traffic and parking interruptions.
