This amendment will revise the summer 2016 programming for the Youth Enrichment (YEN) contract to allow for new robotics STEM programing for 20 youth currently in the schoolyear YEN program. In addition, participant numbers and total sessions of the activities section - 4a are adjusted to encompass the new summer programming. This revision also amends the budget adjusting staffing, supplies, and the addition of new subcontracted partner, as well as deletion of the original partner as result of new summer robotics programming. This Amendment will not modify Section D. Total Funding. This Amendment will modify Attachment A: Scope of Services and Attachment B: Budget as noted below. The following modifications are hereby incorporated into the current contract: 1. Attachment A: Scope of Service is revised and replaced with Attachment A-1: Scope of Service. Area being modified are on p(p) 24, 27, and 29 of Attachment A 2. Attachment B: Budget is revised and replaced with Attachment B-1: Budget. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION City of Miami Beach is implementing the Miami Beach All Stars Program. The program serves 100 low-income youth living in high need neighborhoods and attend 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in Miami Beach schools and whose families face daily economic, social and familial challenges. Miami Beach All Stars Program incorporates Life Skills activities and academic support programming year-round and offers Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and enrichment activities that include Art/Theatre and Sports. All Stars Curriculum is an interactive, evidence-based program that consists of an intensive thirteen 1-hour group sessions delivered 2 times per week and complementary life-skills elements of All Stars are infused in subsequent activities that occur throughout the school year. Youth are involved in STEM programming and competitions; Theatre/Drama workshops and performances; and SUPER (Sports United to Promote Education and Recreation), a team-sports- based program, for basketball and flag football to learn the sport as well as life skills related to the activity. Additionally,youth participate in service learning projects that focus on fostering positive social change by using creativity, knowledge, and life experiences to address issues that affect them: education equity, and school and community climate. The goal of the City's Miami Beach All Stars program is to equip youth with social, emotional and cognitive skills that promote academic success, healthy child development, and healthy successful families. 1 a. Live in high need neighborhoods; 2. Attend 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in Miami Beach Title I schools that receive financial assistance due to high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. Recruitment: • The City's All Star Program successfully utilizes word-of-mouth as its primary recruitment tool. Youth who participate in All Stars consistently refer peers who may benefit from the program. • Miami Beach All Stars participants are recruited via our integrated network of providers which includes our feeder pattern middle schools as well as street-level engagement in parks, City youth recreation facilities, PTSA meeting presentations and community events as well as the harnessing the marketing reach of our City's website and print/electronic media. • The program also anticipates receiving referrals from the City's Children's Trust-funded youth and family programs.
