Motion Text:
The Committee for Quality Education requests the Miami Beach Mayor and Commission explore the
proposal of a penny sales tax on Miami Beach which will be directed solely to Miami Beach public
schools within the City limits. The goal is to make a sustainable fund to provide Miami Beach students
with public funds to ensure that Miami Beach public school children are given the best public school
education possible and to compete with other school districts. This penny tax is not to replace, alter,
or diminish any current or future funds provided by any other source including but not limited to the
School Board, County, State, or Federal, but rather to provide enhancements for Miami Beach public
schools.
The Committee for Quality Education urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above request.
