RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF
THE FINANCE & CITYWIDE PROJECTS COMMITTEE AT ITS
FEBRUARY 17, 2017 MEETING TO ADD THE CREATION OF A POCKET
PARK ON 20TH STREET AND SUNSET DRIVE, INCLUDING A DOG
PARK, TO THE FY 2018 CAPITAL BUDGET, SUBJECT TO FUNDING
AVAILABILITY.
WHEREAS, at the November 9, 2016 City Commission meeting, a discussion was held
regarding the creation of a pocket park on 20th Street and Sunset Drive and the item was
referred to the Finance & Citywide Projects Committee (FCWPC) and the Parks and
Recreational Facilities Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, based on the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board's
recommendation at its meeting on January 12, 2017, the Parks and Recreation Department
presented the scope and cost estimates for the creation of a pocket park on 20th Street and
Sunset Drive at the February 17, 2017 FCWPC meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Administration presented a preliminary estimate of $677,000 for total
project costs which include: grading, crosswalk improvements, perimeter artistic fence, new
utility connections, development of a new playground area, landscaping, irrigation, renovation of
walks and pathways, site lighting, and site furnishing; and
WHEREAS, the FCWPC recommended moving this item to full Commission to add the
pocket park, including a dog park, project to the FY 2018 Capital Budget subject to funding
availability, with consideration of adding a dog park to the scope.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects
Committee at its February 17, 2017 meeting to add the creation of a pocket park on 20th Street
and Sunset Drive, including a dog park, to the FY 2018 Capital Budget, subject to funding
availability.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 26th day of April, 2017.

RECOMMENDATION
City Commission vote to accept the recommendation of the Finance & Citywide Projects Committee

Drive, including a dog park, to the FY 2018 Capital Budget, subject to funding availability, with
consideration of adding a dog park to the scope.
ANALYSIS
At the November 9, 2016 City Commission meeting, a discussion was held regarding the
creation of a pocket park on 20th Street and Sunset Drive. The item was referred to the Finance
& Citywide Projects Committee (FCWPC) and the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory
Board.
Based on the Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board's recommendation at its
meeting on January 12, 2017, the Parks and Recreation Department presented the scope and
cost estimates for the creation of a pocket park on 20th Street and Sunset Drive at the February
17, 2017 FCWPC meeting.
