Section 1. That pursuant to Section 37 of an
act of the .legislature of Florida, approved Iday 26" 1917, and
entitled "AN ACT TO ABOLISH THE PRESENT 1,X- NICIPAL GOVERNIENT CF
THE TOWN OF IIIAM BEACH, IN TIM COU14TY OF DADE AND STtiTE OF
FLORIDA, AND TO ESTABLISH, ORGANIZE AND IJCORPOR.ATE A CITY
GOVERNMENT FOR TIDE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, TO DEFINE ITS TERRITORIAL
BOUNDARIES, TO PRESCRIBE ITS JURISDICTIO-N. POWERS AND PRIVIIZ-GES, �
AND FOR THE EXERCISE OF SALIES AND TO AUTHORIZE TIE I120SITION OF
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOla TION OF ITS ORDINANCES" and designated
as Chapter 7672 of the Laws of Florida, Acts of the Legislature
of Florida, for the year, 1917, the sa d City of Miami Leach,
Florida, is hereby authorized to issue and sell bonds to the amount
of One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand ($125,000.00) Dollars
for the erection of. a public building, nudely, A CITlt' HALL, to be
constructed within the corporate limits of said City, and upon the
following described property, situate, lying and being in the
County of Trade and ►tate of Florida, namely: WZly N.�

Said amount being less than -�`ifteen (15w%) per cent of the
assessed value of the real and personal property within its cor.
porate limits, for the year 1919, provided the issue and sale
of said bonds are ratified by two-thirds of the registered voters

and voting at the Special Election called and helf/ for that pur-
poses
►section. 2. That said bonds shall be issued. and sold
for the purpose of erecting a public building, namely, A City Hall,
to the amount of One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand (-"125,000.00) �
Dollars, as hereinbefore provided, to be called and known as "City
Hall Bonds."

That said bonds shall be issued in one series from
one to one hundred and twenty five inclusive.
That all of said bonds shall be signed by the h1ayor
and Clerk of said city, and attested by the Auditor of said city,
and sealed with the City Seal.

One Thousand 01,000.00) Dollars each and shall bear interest at

The principal and interest shall be payable in Cold
Coin of the United 2tates, of standard weight and fineness, or its

All of said bonds shall be dated, when issued, signed,
countersigned, and attested, and shall be sold at not less than
par value*
That said bonds shall mature in numerical order as
follows: The first Five (5) of said bonds shall mature Two (2)
years after the date thereof, and on every succeeding year there-

( 14) year after the date thereof; Ten ( 10) bonds shall mature
Fifteen ( 15) years after the date thereof, and Ten ( 10) bonds shall
nature for each year thereafter until the whole series shall have

deinption, and shall be the absolute, general and direct obligation a

Sec tion 3 ursuant to Section 37 of the City
Ch:,-rter of the City oil, LIiami Beach, hereinbefore described and
identified as Chapter 7672 of the Acts of the Legislature of Florida
for the year 1917:
The said City of Iliami Beach, Florida is hereby f
authorized to issue and sell bonds to the amount of Fifty Thousand f
($50,000.00) Dollars for the development, extension and maintenance
of its water works system within its corporate limits, said amount 6
including all other outstanding bonds issued for water works and

hater purposes beim less than Ten (10�o) per cent of the assessed
valuation. of all real and personal property within its corporate
limits for the year 1919, provided the issue and sale of said bonds
are ratified by two-thirds of the registered voters of said City
possessing the qualifications hereinafter set forth, voting at the
Special Election called and held for that purpose.
Section 4, That said bones shall be issued and sold
for the purpose of developing, extending and maintaining a eater

Works System within the corporate limits of said City to the amount
of Pifty 0:50,000.00) Thousand Dollars, as hereinbefore provided,
to be Balled and known as "Nater Extension Bonds.'
That said bonds shall be issued in one series from one
to fifty inclusive.

That all of said bonds shall be signed. by the Ika- yor
and Clerk of said City, and attested by the auditor of said City,
and sealed with the City Seal.
That said bonds shall be issued in denominations of
One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars each and shall bear interest at
the rate of Six per cent ( 6%) per annum, with interest coupons
attached and said interest coupons shall bear the facsimile signa:-
tune of the City Clerk. .
The principal and interest shall be payable in Gold
Coin of the United States, of Standard weight and fineness, or, its
equivalent, with interest payable semi-annually in some Bank or Trust
Company in the City of Jew York, State of New York.

That said bonds shall mature in numerical order as
follows: The first two ( 2) of said bonds shall mature Two ( 2)

year after the date thereof; Five (5) bonds shall mature Seventeen
( 17) years after the datethereof, and Five (5) bonds shall mature
for each year thereafter until the whole weries shall have matured.
All of said bonds shall be without option of prior redemption,
and shall be the absolute, general and direct obligation of the
City of I4iami ' Beach, Florida.
Section 5. That pursuant to Section 37 ol- Chapter 7672
of the acts of the Legislature of Florida, for the year, 1917,
hereinbefore referred to and identified, the said City of IVIiami
Beach, Florida is hereby authorized to issue and sell bonds to the
amount of Twenty Five Thousand 026,000.00) Dollars, for the es-
tablishment, equipment and maintenance ofa Fire Department within
the corporate limits of said city, said amount, including allother
outstanding bonds for general purposes being less than Ten (10 )
per cent of the gable value of all real and personal property
within the corporate limits of said city for the year 1919, pro-
vided the i;c_sue and sale of said bonds are ratified by two-thirds
of the registered voters of said City possessing the qualifications
hereinafter set forth, voting at the Special Election called and
held for that purpose.
Section 6. That said bonds shall be issued and sold for
the purpose of establishing, equiping and maintaining a .Fire Oe-
partmerzt within the corporate limits as hereinbefore stated, to
be called and known as "Fire Department Bonds".
The said ponds shall be issued in one series from one
to twenty five inclusive.
That all of said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and
Clerk of said City, and attested by the ,Auditor of said City, and �
sealed with the City Seal.

That said bonds shall be issued in the denominations
OIL' One Thow and ( 1,000.00) Dollars each and shall bear interest at
the rate of Six (6 ) per cent per annum, with interest coupons
attached and said interest coupons shall bear the facsimile signa-
ture of the City Clerk.

Section 7. That a special election be and he-•eby
is called and directed to be held at the City Council Chambers in
said city, from eight O' clock A. LIL. to Sunset on �` � ��*�r,, , the
day of A. D. 1920, for the purpose of submitting
to the qualified registered voters of The City bf Jgiami Beach, the
question set forth in the election notice hereinafter contained.

Each of said questions shall be voted upon separately.
Section 8. That the registration officer of the
City of Tdiami Beach shall open registration books for said election
which shall remain open at the City Council Chamber from 10 o' clock
Ao IvIo until 5 O'clock P.L-. the day of A.D. 1920
and each day (Sundays excepted) thereafter, until the /. � � day
of - .P. 1920, for the purpose of registering those
who are qualified to register for. such election.
Section 9. That

said. election shall possess the qualifications requisite to an
elector at general state elections, and shall have resided in the
City of Miami Beach six months next preceding said election, and �

shall have been registered in the municipal registration books
prescribed by ordinance, and said election shall be conducted and
held except as herein provided in accordance with the provisions
of the general election law of the State of Florida.
Section 10. That the bayor is hereby directed
to publish by posting in three public places in the City of
Is�ismi Beach, Florida, and by publication in a newspaper in the
City of Miami, Dade County, Florida, once a week for, at least,
four weeks next preceding the date of said election, a notice
in substantially the following form:

Section 12. That immediately after the closing of
• election shall proceed to
the polls, inspectors and Clergy of said
count the votes at said election for and against the proposition
submitted, and shall prepare duplicate lists showing the vote for

each, and against each respectively, and shall certify the correct-
ness of the same, and one of said certified lists under seal shall
be handed by the inspector to the city clerk, and the other certified
list also under seal, shall be handed to the president of the City
Council.
} Section 139 That on the first Ionday after said
election or as soon. thereafter as practicable, the City Council shall
convene and proceed to canvass the vote casi, at such election, and
if it shall appear, That the erection of a public building, namely,
A City Hall4i to be constructed within the corporate limits of said

City, and the development, extension and maintenance of its Water
Works System within its corporate limits, and the establishment,
equiptpent and maintenance of a Fire Department within its corporate
limits, shall have been ratified, and approved by the affirmative
vote o-C two-thirds of th- qualified registered voters of said City
voting at said election, then the erection of a public Building,
namely, A City Hall; the de.velopmept, extension and maintenance of
its Viater `jVorks System and the establishment, equipment and main-
tenance of a Fire Department shall be deemed authorized, and if
it shall further appear that said issue of bonds shall have been
ratified and approved by the affirmative vote of two-thins of the
qualified registered voters of said City voting at said election,
then such bond issue shall be d`emed authorized.
Section 14. This ordinance shall tale effect forty
days after its passage and approval by the 1.1ayor.
