AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 289,
COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE "ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Paragraph 17 of Section 8 of Ordinance No. 289,
commonly known as the "Zoning Ordinance of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida", be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"17 . Self-service Laundries : On condition,
however, that such use shall be per-
mitted only after approval by the Chief
Building Inspector of plans or speci-
fications therefor showing compliance
with the following requirements:
(1) Only domestic type dryers, having
a capacity per unit not exceeding
32 pounds of dry clothing may be
used.
(2) All laundry machines shall be
separated from any store front
by a reception or office room,
counter or similar facility.
(3) There shall be only one door
opening from any public street,
and such door opening shall not
exceed five (5) feet in width.
and on the further condition that all
self-service laundry establishments
shall remain closed from midnight
until 6 o 'clock A.M. provided, how-
ever, that such establishments may
remain open for such length of time
between midnight and 6 'o'clock A.M.
as an adult supervisor or attendant
remains continuously on duty in the
particular establishment.
All non-conforming self-service
laundries in "BA" or other Business
Use Districts now in existence shall
continue to be subject to the limi-
tations of type and capacity of
equipment as set forth in sub-
paragraph (1) hereinabove; and the
machines therein shall continue to
be screened from the street by a
reception room, office space, or
other suitable means, so that the
machines shall not be in view of
the public. All non-conforming

"self-service laundries shall also
be subject to the limitations and
conditions as to permissible hours
of operation as hereinabove set
forth. "
SECTION 2: That all ordinances in conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3 : That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately
upon its passage and posting as required by law.
