Ordinance 1482 ORDINANCE NO. 1482
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35 OF
"THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, 1950" .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 35 of "The Code of The City of Miami
Beach, Florida, 1950" be and the same is hereby
amended by adding a new Section thereto immediately following
Section 35.39.2 and to be numbered and to read as follows:.
"Section 35 .39.3. It shall be unlawful for
any driver of any taxicab to:
(a) Loiter inside or near the entrances
to night clubs, bars or hotels while
on active duty.
(b) Leave his taxicab on a taxicab stand
unattended at any time.
(c) Create any disturbances, or engage
in loud talking, or operate taxicab
radios on high volume when parked
adjacent to hotels, apartment houses
or private dwellings.
(d) Congregate around the first out taxicab,
while parked on taxicab stands.
(e) Fail to stay in or adjacent to his
taxicab at all times, except when
taxicab has been taken out of service.
(f) Fail to keep himself clean shaven
and neat at all times. "T" shirts
will not be allowed nor shall any
dress shirts be worn outside of the
trousers. Elastic top or lounging
trousers shall not be worn on duty.
No sandals without hose.
(g) Fail to keep all cab doors closed
while cab is parked on stand.
(h) Form a "feed line" at any time, _
without the approval of the Police
Department.
(i) Fail to notify the Police Department
of any change in his address or in
his employment immediately.
(j) Engage in the practice of arranging
so called, "Booked Jobs, " "Time
Calls", "Personal Requests", or the
"Picking up in front o£" any hotel

which is covered by a lawful
taxicab stand. Exception is the
picking up of passengers who are
on a "Tour" . The "First Out"
practice shall be the rule of
operation.
(k) Engage in the practice of
soliciting passengers for hotel,
night clubs, restaurants or bars
for gratuities given by these
establishments.
(i) Operate any taxicab with torn
upholstery or cracked and broken
glass, and/or unclean interior. "
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3 : This ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon
its passage and posting as required by law.

having been passed and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in
three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, one
of which was at the door of the City Hall in said City on
the 6th day of February, A,D. 1963 , and that said
Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least thirty
days in accordance with the requirements of the City
Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach,
