SECTION 1 That Section 2.61(b) o� "The Code of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida" reading as followse
� "The Board shall have full power and authority
to enter into contractual obligations with
insurance carriers authorized to do business
in the state or by es�ablishing a self-administered
plan or by a co�bination thereof and to establish
rates of costs based on actuarial analyses
subject to the approval by the city council, the

and officers who shall have retired from service

, 1964, with the advantage of participation in a

shall be two thousand dollars per member, and
to provide those of such reuular employees and
officers who are retirc:d from service under any
city pension system subsequent to December 31, 1963,
with the advantage of participation in ��uch

shall be one thousand dollars per membero"

shall mean the employee's regular rate of pay,
computed for each forthcoming policy year, on
the payroll nearest �o December lst of the
calendar year, except that the annual salary
of new employees who have attained regular
status during a different payroll period will
be calculated as af the date such employees
attained regular status.

city who shall have retired from sexvice under
any c ity pens ion sys tem sulbs e�uent to ,Tanuary 1, 196�'r
and who were participants in the plan 4n the date
of retirement, group life insurance shall be
payable i�n the amount of $1,00O.00e
(d) To the estate or designated beneficiary of
any regular employees and Qf�icers o� the city,
excluding retirees and pensioners, who are eligible
to receive death bene�Eits under Section 5B of
Ordinance No. 845, there shall be payable an amount
eaual to the difrerence between the pri��nary life
insurance bene�it provided in sub-section� (aj,
(b) and (�) hereo�, and t�1e $20,400.00 servi�e-
connected accidental death ber�efit pro�rided in
Section 5B of Ordinance No. 8�5. Such payment in
excess ofc the pri�nary life insurance benefit shall
be in lieu of t�e lusnp sum payment provided in
S ect ion 5B of Ord inance No .�45 ."
S ECTION 3 That all ord inances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewi�h be and the same are hereby repealedo
SECTION �r The health and welfare o� the City being in peril, the
three readings of this ordinance shall be had in one
session, and the City Council find ing that this ordinance is necessary
for the il�nmediate protection of its citizens, it shall therefore go
into effect on January 1, 19b9a
