SUBJECT: City Hosts National Community Dev lopment Association Delegates
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to advise the Mayor and Commission that the City
will be hosting almost 100 delegates to the National Community Development Association
(NCDA) Conference for a special discussion on resiliency Friday, June 16th at the Miami Beach
Botanical Gardens.
The NCDA is a national nonprofit organization comprised of more than 400 local governments
across the country that administer federally-supported community and economic development,
housing and human service programs, including programs of the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), and the HOME
Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs. Since 1968, NCDA has been at the forefront in
securing effective and responsive housing and community development programs for local
governments.
The City is joining the City of Miami in co-hosting NCDA's 48th Annual Training Conference
being held at the Hyatt Regency Miami June 14 -17, 2017. This sold out conference attracts
municipal representatives from throughout the United States including the City's own Housing
and Community Development Team.
The City's resiliency discussion will be led by Amy Knowles, the City's Deputy Resiliency Officer
and will address the City's efforts as well as its involvement with 100 Resilient Cities initiative.
