ORDINANCE NO. 1819
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 36 OF
"THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That that portion of Section 36.3 of the Code
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida reading as
follows:
"Sec. 36.3. Permit --Required.
No sign described in paragraphs (b), (c), (d),
(e) and (f) of section 36-10 shall be erected,
constructed or reconstructed in the city without
first having obtained a permit therefor from the
city council and paying the fees set forth in
this chapter."
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:

SECTION 3. That Section 36.4 of the Code of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follows:
"Applications for permits shall be accompanied
by such drawings and information as are necessary
to fully acquaint the chief building inspector
or the city council with location, construction,
weight, materials, method of securing the manner
of illuminating."

SECTION 4. That Section 36.7 of the Code of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec.36.7. Hazardous signs; appeals from
decisions of chief building inspector.
No permits shall be issued for signs which, in
the opinion of the chief buiLd ng inspector,
will constitute a hazard of any kind. An appeal
from any decision of the chief building inspector
may be taken by any aggrieved party to the City
Manager; and appeals from decisions of the City
Manager may be taken to the City Council, which
decision in the matter shall be final. The City
reserves the right, after forty-eight hours'
notice, to remove any sign, which is not properly
maintained, which shows neglect, becomes
dilapidated or is, in the opinion of the chief
building inspector, unsafe or hazardous in any
way."
SECTION 5. That Section 36.9 of the Code of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follows:
"Sec. 36.9. Erection of signs in special cases.
The city council may, in special cases, grant
permits for the erection of signs not conforming
to the requirements of this chapter, and, at
their discretion, may require a bond not exceeding
ten thousand dollars, protecting the city against
all liabilities."

repealed.
That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately
upon its passage and posting as required by law.

places in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door
of the City Hall in said City on the 23rd day of
March, 1970,
and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter
of the said City of Miami Beach.
