ORDINANCE NO. 1867
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 36
OF "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 36-10(a) of "The Code of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida", pertaining to signs, be and the same is
hereby amended by adding thereto a new paragraph to be numbered and
to read as follows:
"Sec. 36-10(a)(1) The display of revolving, rotating, or
flashing lights on any sign, and the
display of revolving signs anywhere in the City of Miami
Beach, is unlawful and prohibited. Streamer lights,
pennants, banners, streamers, and all fluttering, spinning
or similar type of attention-attractors, or advertising
devices are also prohibited and unlawful, except for national
flags, flags of political subdivisions, flags of governmental
entities, flags of bona fide civic, charitable, fraternal and
welfare organizations. The flags permitted hereby shall not
be used in mass in order to circumvent this amendment by
using said flags primarily as an advertising device.
Streamer lights and revolving signs existing on the
effective date of this amendment shall be removed within
one year from the said effective date, and all other
advertising devices described herein shall be removed
within six months from the effective date of this ordinance,
provided that nothing herein contained shall be deemed to
prohibit the maintenance and display of lights and streamers
by the City on the streets and public buildings during
nationally recognized holiday periods, and further provided
that nothing herein contained in this section shall be
deemed to be applicable to existing signs giving time or
temperature reports, wherein the advertising displayed is
incidental to the public service performed, and such existing
public service signs shall be removed not later than
February 5, 1981."
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its
passage and posting as required by law.

Ordinance No. 1867 entitled:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 36 OF "THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,"
having been passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in three conspicuous
places in the City of Miami Beach, one of which was at the door
of the City Hall in said City on the 5th day of February, 1971,
and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least
thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter
of the said City of Miami Beach.
