A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF
THE FINANCE AND CITYWIDE PROJECTS COMMITTEE AT ITS MAY 19,
2017 MEETING AND APPROVING THE CONTRIBUTION OF FUNDS, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000; AND ACCEPTING THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD/COMMUNITY AFFAIRS
COMMITTEE AT ITS MAY 19, 2017 MEETING AND APPROVING A
CONTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO THE REGIONAL HYBRID
SKATEPARK/PUMPTRACK INITIATIVE AT HAULOVER PARK IN
CONJUNCTION WITH SUNNY ISLES BEACH, THE TOWN OF SURFSIDE,
AND, POSSIBLY, BAL HARBOUR AND BAY HARBOR ISLANDS.
WHEREAS, on April 14, 2017, the Town of Surfside reached out to the City of Miami Beach in
regards to Miami-Dade County's ("County") Regional Hybrid Skate Park/Pump Track Initiative ("Initiative");
and
WHEREAS, the County has received a proposal (Exhibit "A") from Velosolutions, a company that
designs and constructs the infrastructure for pump tracks, to design, engineer and construct a hybrid skate
park in Haulover Park; and
WHEREAS, the County has engaged its districts for financial support to back the Initiative; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach and the Town of Surfside plan to contribute $150,000 and
$50,000, respectively, towards this Initiative, and Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor Islands may also participate in
the Initiative; and
WHEREAS, on April 26, 2017, the City Commission moved this item as a dual referral to both the
Finance and Citywide Projects Committee ("FCWPC") and the Neighborhood and Community Affairs
Committee ("NCAC"); and
WHEREAS, at the May 19, 2017 NCAC and FCWPC meetings, the Committees approved
recommendations for the City's contribution to the Regional Hybrid Skatepark/Pumptrack Initiative at
Haulover Park in conjunction with Sunny Isles Beach, the Town of Surfside, and, possibly, Bal Harbour and
Bay Harbor Islands, with FCWPC's recommendation that the City's contribution not exceed $50,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby accept the
recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee at its May 19, 2017 meeting and hereby
approve the contribution of City funds, in an amount not to exceed $50,000; and, further, accept the
recommendation of the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee at its May 19, 2017 meeting and hereby
approve a contribution of City funds to the Regional Hybrid Skatepark/Pumptrack Initiative at Haulover Park
in conjunction with Sunny Isles Beach, the Town of Surfside, and, possibly, Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor
Islands.

SUBJECT:A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF
THE FINANCE AND CITYWIDE PROJECTS COMMITTEE AT ITS MAY 19,
2017 MEETING APPROVING THE CONTRIBUTION OF FUNDS FOR UP TO
$50,000; AND ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE
NEIGHBORHOOD/COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE AT ITS MAY 19,
2017 MEETING APPROVING THE CONTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO THE
REGIONAL HYBRID SKATEPARK/PUMPTRACK INITIATIVE AT
HAULOVER IN CONJUNCTION WITH SUNNY ISLES BEACH, TOWN OF
SURFSIDE, AND POSSIBLY BAL HARBOUR AND BAY HARBOR ISLANDS.
RECOMMENDATION
Accept the recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee at its May 19, 2017
meeting approving the contribution of funds for up to $50,000.00; and accepting the recommendation
of the Neighborhood/Community Affairs Committee at its May 19, 2017 meeting approving the
contribution of the funds to the Regional Hybrid Skatepark/Pumptrack Initiative at Haulover in
conjunction with Sunny Isles Beach, Town of Surfside, and possibly Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor
Islands.
ANALYSIS
On April 14, 2017, the Town of Surfside reached out to the City of Miami Beach in regards to

plans to contribute $150,000 and $50,000, respectively, towards this initiative. Bal Harbour and
Bay Harbor Islands have also been engaged.
On April 26, 2017, Commission moved this item as a dual referral to both the Finance and
Citywide Projects Committee (FCWPC) and the Neighborhood and Community Affairs

At the May 19, 2017 NCAC and FCWPC meetings, the Committees approved the City's
contribution towards the Regional Hybrid Skatepark/Pumptrack initiative at Haulover in
conjunction with Sunny Isles Beach, Town of Surfside, and possibly Bal Harbour and Bay
Harbor Islands, with FCWPC's direction to not have the contribution exceed $50,000.00.
