12991 RESOLUTION NO. 12991
WHEREAS the municipalities of the State of Florida
are confronted with several financial problems resulting
from the imposition of millage limitations upon real and
personal property for the purpose of ad valorem taxation,
and
WHEREAS the Legislature of the State of Florida has
failed to make available to the several municipalities of
the State, any source of revenue to replace the depletion
of revenues caused by said millage limitations, and
WHEREAS it has been proposed that the Legislature
enact appropriate legislation imposing an additional one
cent ($.01) a gallon gasoline tax, which additional revenue
would be specifically allocated to the several municipalities
for city street purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it strongly
favors and unanimously approves the adoption of such legis-
lation, and urges and recommends to each and every member of
the Dade County Delegation, the House and Senate of the
Legislature, to assert all efforts to procure the adoption and
enactment of such legislation for said purpose.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 1st day of April, 1970.
The adoption of the foregoing Resolution was jointly
moved by the Mayor, the Vice Mayor, and the several Councilmen
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida:
