13150 RESOLUTION NO. 13150
A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE 17TH DAY
OF MARCH AS ST. PATRICK'S DAY AND
AUTHORIZING A ST. PATRICK' S DAY PARADE .
WHEREAS, Paul M. Bruun has contributed handsomely
to the growth of the City of Miami Beach through his untiring
and unceasing efforts to promote and enhance the general
welfare of the community, its people, and institutions, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bruun has, in the highest American
tradition of mutual respect and admiration for the great
accomplishments of all good citizens in all phases of
endeavor, proposed the establishment of a St. Patrick ' s Day
Parade and Day of Activities, and
WHEREAS, St. Patrick is the patron saint and folk
hero of the Country of Eire and its inhabitants, and
WHEREAS, St. Patrick ' s Day is the traditional
time for the wearing of the green in laudatory salute to
Ireland and those of Irish extraction, and
WHEREAS, the five million immigrants from the
ancient land of Hibernia and their sons and daughters have
contributed mightily to the building of our nation and
city, and
WHEREAS, these sone and daughters of the "Emerald
Isle" have been omnipresent in the arts, sciences, letters,
government, and all forms of accomplishments, and
WHEREAS, their multifarious contributions have
enriched the lives of the citizens of the City of Miami Beach
and the nation as a whole.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the 17th
day of the month of March be proclaimed as a Day of Activities
to honor the sons and daughters of Ireland and the great
traditions of the Irish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a parade in honor of said
St. Patrick ' s Day is hereby authorized to take place, in which
parade citizens and residents of Irish descent, their friends,
supporters and admirers, may march with characteristic pride
through the beautiful streets of our City proclaiming their
glorious heritage for all to witness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all citizens and
residents of the City of Miami Beach are hereby invited and
called upon to take cognizance of these resolutions proclaiming
said St. Patrick ' s Day and authorizing a St. Patrick' s Day
parade. It is requested that all citizens lend their best
efforts to aid, assist and encourage the honoring of the Irish
and Irish-Americans everywhere.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council wishes
to express its warm appreciation to Mr. Paul Bruun for
presenting this matter to the City Council. It is indicative
of the concern for the public interest and for the promotion
of brotherhood Mr. Bruun is continually demonstrating.
