13326 RESOLUTION NO. 13326
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has
received a proposal from Miami-Dade Junior College whereby
said educational institution will furnish to the City, for
parttime employment by the City, not more than ten (10)
students as Police Trainees and not more than fourteen (14)
students as Recreational Leaders, to be compensated at the
hourly rate of One and 80/100 Dollars ($1.80) for the first
year and Two Dollars ($2 .00) for the second year; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government ' s contribution for
the payment of said compensation to said students is to be
Eighty Per Cent (80%) thereof and the City' s is to be Twenty
Per Cent (20%) thereof; it being understood that the City
will not use any student for more than fifteen (15) hours of
work in any one week in which such student is engaged in
classroom sessions ; and not more than forty (40) hours in
any other week; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is further advised that
the employment thus afforded by the City will be work which
would not otherwise be provided; and will not displace em-
ployed workers ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is further advised by
the City Attorney that the said proposal, if accepted, will
not be in conflict with the Civil Service provisions governing
employment in the City of Miami Beach; and is in proper legal
form; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determine3that
the acceptance of said proposal is in the best interests of
the said City and its citizens and residents ; and
WHEREAS, an agreement has been prepared setting forth
the terms and conditions of such employment as hereinabove set
forth, with which provisions City Council is fully familiar,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor
and the City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and di-
rected to execute and deliver said agreement on behalf of the
City and that the proper officers of the City be and hereby
are authorized and directed to carry into effect the terms and
provisions of said agreement.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of August, 1971 .
