WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has
adopted and maintained a permanent, but separate registration
system for its electors in its elections, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, has found and determined that it is in the
best interest of the City and its electors and citizens that
it discontinue its separate, permanent registration system,
and in lieu thereof, adopt and utilize the permanent
registration system maintained and used by the County of Dade,
all in the manner authorized and provided for by Section
98. 091, Florida Statutes, and
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the voting precincts in
the City of Miami Beach are, and for a long time, have been
co-extensive and identical with the voting precincts established
by the County of Dade, and that the same do not extend beyond
the boundaries of the City of Miami Beach, Florida.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the
Metropolitan Dade County Commission be, and it is hereby
formally advised that the City of Miami Beach, Florida, desires
to use the Dade County permanent registration system for the
electors of the City of Miami Beach for City of Miami Beach
elections, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Metropolitan Dade County
Commission be, and it is hereby respectfully and formally
requested to implement this Resolution, under the authority
of said Section 98. 091, Florida. Statutes, by adopting its
Resolution in accordance therewith to provide therein that the
same shall be effective on January 1, 1972, and that the
County Supervisor of Elections be directed and authorized to
comply with the provisions thereof, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that copies of this Resolution
be transmitted to each member of the Metropolitan Dade County
Commission, the County Manager, and the County Attorney.
