Marine and Waterfront Protecti n Authority Resolution to request
the City of Miami Beach Environmental and Sustainability
Department to test for chemicals in the bay and post findings
online.
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to transmit a resolution adopted by
the Marine and Waterfront Protection Authority (MWPA) during their May 9, 2017
meeting and further revisited on June 13, 2017. This resolution is a recommendation
to the City Commission regarding the measurement of chemicals present in the bay for
which the Environmental and Sustainability Department is currently conducting regular
samplings.
After several months of discussions on this and related matters, the Marine and
Waterfront Protection Authority adopted the following resolution:
The MWPA requests of the City of Miami Beach to test for pesticides, Naled,
heavy metals, chemicals, and fecal matter present in the bay, and to post
findings online on a monthly basis.
Action: Motion for this resolution was made by Barbara Herskowitz; seconded by Joel
Aberbach. (Vote: 1 0-0) Resolution passed.
