RESOLUTION NO. 13504
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING A
SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH FOR THE 1971-72 FISCAL YEAR.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, by Resolution No. 13392 adopted on September 30, 1971,
approved the official budget and operating budget of the City
of Miami Beach for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 1971,
and ending September 30, 1972, and
WHEREAS, the budget for the City of Miami Beach for
the current fiscal year provides and authorizes expenditures
for the City of Miami Beach in the total amount of $32 , 885,081 .00,
and
WHEREAS, the aggregate amount of revenues for the
City of Miami Beach has been increased during the current fiscal
year by an additional amount of $395,424.00 by reason of a
grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Law Enforcement
Assistance Administration under Section 306 of the Omnibus Crime
Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (PL 90-351) for the purpose
of training and equipping law enforcement officers in the
handling of a National Political Convention, and
WHEREAS, by reason of such grant, resulting in an
unanticipated increase in revenues, it is therefore, necessary
to adopt a supplemental budget providing for the acceptance and
expenditure of the said grant of $395, 424. 00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the annual
budget for the City of Miami Beach for the fiscal year 1971-72
be, and the same is hereby amended and supplemented by providing
for an additional appropriation to the Police Department in the
said sum of $395, 424. 00, being the additional revenue received
or to be received by the City of Miami Beach as the proceeds of
said Federal Grant, and the said additional revenue shall be
expended, as the said funds are received in the manner and in
the amount set forth and provided for in that certain document
entitled "Application for Grant of Discretionary Funds from the
U.S. Department of Justice Law Enforcement Assistance Administration",
a copy of which document is attached hereto and made a part hereof
by reference, and which document is to be taken, deemed and to be
considered as an appropriate amendment or supplement to the said
annual budget of the City of Miami Beach for the fiscal year
1971-72, which amended or supplem entalbudget is hereby approved,
adopted, ratified and confirmed, and thea.expenclitures therein
provided for are hereby appropriated for said purposes; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the provisions of this resolution
shall become effective immediately upon passage.
