COUNCIL MEMORANDUM NO. 3115`
TO: City Council January 14, 1972
FROM: City Manager
SUBJECT : Development of Temporary Parking Areas on the
East Side of Meridian Avenue, 17th to 19th Streets
The City-owned lots east of Meridian Avenue from 17th to 19th Streets
were developed as temporary parking areas for the GOP National Con-
vention with the exception of the lot at 1777 Meridian Avenue which
was in litigation. The City Council at its meeting of November 17 ,
1971 awarded the contract to demolish the building on the remaining
lot . This lot is required for parking during the Democratic National
Convention and the development is estimated to cost $7 , 250.00. The
development of the other lots was accomplished at a cost of $28 ,536 . 98 ;
this expenditure was charged to the General Fund with the intention
that it be reimbursed after all the lots have been improved.
Based on the above the Administration recommends that Council
authorize the improvement of this additional lot as a temporary
parking area, and that $7 ,250. 00 be appropriated from the Parking
Meter Revenue Bond Fund for this purpose , and an additional $28 ,536 . 98
be appropriated from the Parking Meter Revenue Bond Fund to reimburse
the General Fund expenditure . for lots previously constructed.
