13640 RESOLUTION NO. 13640 WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been advised that CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE desires to modify its lease for the premises and facilities of the Miami Beach Auditorium or Convention Hall North and Convention Hall South because of the Democratic and Repub- lican Conventions in accordance with the terms and provisions set forth in the attached letter from the City ' s Convention Hall Executive Director dated June 7 , 1972, and agreed to by the Church of the Nazarene, and WHEREAS , the terms of said modification have been approved as to form by the City Attorney, and WHEREAS, the City Council has been advised of and is familiar with the terms and provisions of the proposed modif- ication of said lease agreement and deems it to be for the best interest of the City to agree to said modification of the said lease agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the terms and pro- visions of said modification be and the same are hereby agreed to that the Auditorium and Convention Hall Manager is hereby authorized and directed to carry into effect the terms and provisions undertaken therein by the City. Edgar Johnson General Secretary Church of the Nazarene 6401 the Paseo Kansas City, Missouri 64131 Dear Dr. Johnson: This letter will serve as an amendment to the existing contract dated April 24, 1970, between the Church of the Nazarene and the City of Miami Beach. Church of the Nazarene will use Convention Hall North from June 14 through June 23, 1972. Rental rate will be waived. Church of the Nazarene will use Convention Hall South from June 13 through June 23, 1972. Rental rate will be waived. Church of the Nazarene will use the Auditorium from June 15-18, 1972, instead of June 15-21, 1972, at a rental rate of three hundred and fifty ($350.00) dollars per day for a total of fourteen hundred ($1400.00) dollars instead of "out of pocket" expenses with a minimum guarantee of one thousand ($1000.00) dollars for services furnished. The above revised rental rate is based on the following provisions which the Church of the Nazarene agrees to accept: 1. Any expenses incurred by them for the staging of their convention including the podium would also be at their expense and their responsibility. 2. Church of the Nazarene will negotiate the amount of security needed based on contractors allowed in halls and their guarantee to provide security. • Dr. B. Edgar Johnson -2- June 6, 1972 3. That additional parking behind the Auditorium be made available to the Church of the Nazarene (at no cost) to replace the parking area being utilized by the trailer compound. Church of the Nazarene has deposited with the City of Miami Beach the sum of five thousand ($5000.00) dollars. This deposit to be credited to above charges and balance due to be refunded by City of Miami Beach to Church of the Nazarene. All other terms and conditions set out in the existing contract shall remain the same. I am writing this letter in triplicate. If this method of handling the changes meets with your approval, please sign and return all three copies of the amendment to this office.
