13668 RESOLUTION NO. 13668
WHEREAS, the 1972 Democratic National Convention
in session in the City of Miami Beach from July 10, 1972 to
July 14, 1972 inclusive has been one of the most largely
attended and most dynamic of any in the history of the
Democratic Party and beyond doubt will be denominated as its
most important, from an historic view, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach was, and is proud
to have had the opportunity during said Convention to welcome
the many distinguished candidates, officials, delegates and
guests of the Convention within its hospitable gates, and
WHEREAS, the distinction of being the Host City for
a Convention of such magnitude carried with it countless
problems of enormous and profound complexity, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has been universally
lauded for its successful and faithful fulfillment of its
pledges and commitments to the Democratic National Convention,
to the State and to the Nation, and
WHEREAS, the name and fame of the City of Miami
Beach as a Convention City is now like unto a beacon on the
mountain top, diffusing its warm glow to distant horizons, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to recognize and
to pay due acknowledgment and tribute to all those in the
administration of the City who, without exception and with
immeasurably unselfish devotion gave of the totality of their
time, energy, skills and training to achieve success in pro-
viding orderly conduct in the surroundings for the said
Convention, and for its smooth functioning,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, for itself, and
for the citizens and residents of the City that formal and
lasting gratification and appreciation is hereby expressed and
extended to all within the administration of the City, inclu-
ding, but not limited to the City Manager, the Convention Hall
Director, the Chief of Police, the Chief of Fire Department
and to each and every officer and employee in every division
and department of the City' s administration for their selfless
and untiring devotion to duty and for their unstinting loyalty
to the task of fulfilling the responsibilities for the City of
Miami Beach to the Democratic National Convention, the State,
the Nation, and in achieving what must surely be recorded in
the annals of history as being one of the most successful
National Conventions in the history of the Nation.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of July, 1972.
