13785 RESOLUTION NO. 13785
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, Florida, on the
6th day of October, 1971, entered into a lease with Drexel
School, Inc. by Dr. Gustave L. Drexel, President, for the
use and occupance of the premises known as 3602 Collins
Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida, for the use of said premises
for a proper municipal purpose, to wit, an educational and
allied program designed to combat the use of drugs by per-
sons of youthful years and who would be otherwise unfamiliar
and untutored in the dangers inherent in the use thereof,
and
WHEREAS, said lease provides for a term of one (1)
year expiring November 1, 1972 at an annual rental of
$9, 000. 00 with an option on the part of the City to renew
said lease for an additional term of two (2) years, on the
same terms at the initial term of one (1) year, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, deems it to be in the best interest for the City of
Miami Beach, its residents and inhabitants to exercise one
( 1) year of said option saving and reserving unto the City,
the further option at the conclusion of the second year of
said lease, to use the remaining one (1) year of said option
to all of which the said Lessor has agreed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said
Lessor of said property, Drexel School, Inc. be and it is
duly formally notified and advised in accordance with said
lease that the City does hereby exercise its option to utilize
the first year of said two (2) year option, upon the same
terms and conditions as the original first year term of said
lease; with the City of Miami Beach expressively reserving
and retaining its option to exercise the second year of said
option, upon identical terms at the conclusion of the addition-
al one (1) year term under said option.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor
and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to execute
and deliver said lease and the proper financial officers of
the City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
make the payments of rental under the terms of said lease as
the same accrue and become due and payable.
