The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board is delighted that the City Commission has allocated
$200,000 toward the renovation of Muscle Beach within Lummus Park. The Board has looked at the design

perhaps include additional fitness equipment beyond what we see in this proposal.

The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board also supports the funding for Capital Projects that are
underfunded such as Maurice Gibb Park Redevelopment and the Future Community Park (Former Par 3). In
regards to the funding of the Future Community Park (Former Par 3), the board believes it would be more cost
and time effective if the project is funded and constructed in phases, beginning with the soil remediation and
tennis courts.
The Parks and Recreational Facilities Advisory Board also supports future projects in the following prioritization:
High Priority
- Spectator Seating on the Tennis Building Rooftop of North Shore Park
- Kayak Launches City-wide as part of the Blueways Masterplan
Low Priority
- Lummus Park Master Plan and Redevelopment
The board also likes the idea of the following projects, but would like to see prices before prioritizing: a pocket
park on Alton and 20th Street, Batting Cages on the rooftop of North Shore Park Youth Center or Scott Rakow
Youth Center, a Soccer field on the rooftop of North Shore Park Youth Center. The board also supports the idea
of a competitive swimming pool, but the scope needs to be determined in order to acquire a better price,
