A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING
RESOLUTIONS NOS . 73-14220 AND 74-14263 OF
THE CITY COMMISSION, TO SUBSTITUTE THE PUBLIC
PURPOSE OF THE USE OF THE OPERATION RE-ENTRY
BUILDING.
WHEREAS , the City Commission adopted on February 6 , 1974
Resolution No. 74-14263 authorizing the issuance of $250,000 General
Obligation Bonds entitled "1974 Community Facility Bonds" for the
purpose of acquiring , developing and constructing an operation re-
entry building at 3602 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the City has issued $206 ,000 of said community
facility bonds; and
WHEREAS , in 1975 the City used the receipt of such bond
money for the purchase of a property located at 3602 Collins Avenue;
and
WHEREAS , the property located at 3602 Collins Avenue was
used as an operation re-entry building until 1980 at which time its
public purpose became obsolete; and
WHEREAS , the property located at 3602 Collins Avenue has
been without any physical use since 1980; and
WHEREAS , the City has determined that it would be in the
best interest of the inhabitants of the City if such unused property
be used for the alternative purposes , hereinafter stated which would
benefit the health and welfare of such inhabitants; and
WHEREAS , the alternative purposes for such property shall
be to provide a facility for governmental, civic, educational,
scientific, cultural, and charitable organizations, including the
City, to enrich the lives of the citizens and visitors of Miami
Beach and benefit the health and welfare of such inhabitants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida:

SECTION 1. SUBSTITUTING PUBLIC PURPOSE. That the public
purpose of the operation re-entry bonds shall be substituted to
provide a facility for governmental, civic, educational, scientific,
cultural and charitable organizations, including the City of Miami
Beach to enrich the lives of the citizens and visitors to the City of
Miami Beach.
SECTION 2. AUTHORIZING RELATED ACTIONS . The proper
officials of the City are hereby authorized and directed to take
such further action as may be necessary or desirable to carry out
the purpose and intention of the foregoing.
SECTION 3 . RESCINDING INCONSISTENT RESOLUTIONS. All
resolutions or parts of resolutions insofar as they are inconsistent
with this resolution are hereby rescinded.
SECTION 4. PROVIDING EFFECTIVE DATE. This resolution
shall be in force and effect immediately upon its adoption.
