BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the compensation for Classifications of positions
in the Classified Service of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, shall not be less than the following prescribed minimums,
nor more than the following prescribed maximums:

Section 2: This ordinance shall not have the effect of reducing the
compensation of any incumbent employee in the Classified
Service whose present rate of compensation is above the prescribed
maximum for the classification to which his position belongs.
Section 3: The City Manager may issue detailed regulations, not con-
flicting with this Ordinance, nor with the Personnel Rules,
for the purpose of clarification and application of this Ordinance.
Section 4: The City Manager, upon recommendation of the Department
Head, shall be empowered to fix the rate of compensation
of the individual employee, from time to time within the minimum and
maximum as fixed herein.
Section 5: It is declared to be the purpose of this Ordinance, to
provide for an orderly and fair means for the compensation
of employees in the Classified Service on the basis of the work they
perform and their competence in its performance, and to further the
principles and intent of the Civil Service Act in providing for an
equitable basis of compensation and the reward of merit.
Section 6: This Ordinance repeals all ordinances or parts of ordi-
nances in conflict herewith.
Section 7: If any portion or portions of this Ordinance shall be
declared invalid, the remaining portions shall have the

same force and effect as though such invalid portion or portions
had not been included.
Section 8: This Ordinance shall become effective as of June 1st,
1941,

WITH" , having been passed and adopted by the City Council
of the 0ity of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by
me in three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach,
one of which was at the door of the 0ity Hall in said City
on the 3rd day of July, A. D. , 1941, and that said Ordinance
remained posted for a period of at least thirty days in ac—
cordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the
said City of Miami Beach.
