Ordinance 633 ' e ORDINANCE NOI 633 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 604 OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL PAY SCHEDULES FOR ALL CLASSIFICATIONS OF POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT; PROVIDING FOR ITS AD*. MINISTRATION AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT HEREWFITH"• WHEREAS, the United States of America is now at war with foreign powers, and WHEREAS, it may well be that the City of Miami Beach shall not be free from attack, and WHEREAS, the duty of preserving the lives and property of our citizens during blackouts and other critical periods rests to a great extent upon the shoulders of our Police and Fire Departments, whose duties and responsibilities will be greatly increased, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 604 of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows : "SECTION 2: This ordinance shall not have the effect of reduc- ing the compensation of any incumbent employee in the Classified Service whose present rate of compensation is above the prescribed maximum for the classification to which his position belongs. Employees classified as Patrolman Fireman or Life Guard in the service of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, who have or may attain Regular status on or before September 1, 1941, shall receive compensation for such position as provided in Ordinance No. 485 with annual increments of in- crease as therein established; provided, however, that com- pensation shall not exceed the maximum therein provided except in conformance with the pay schedules established by this ordinance, and except that employees classified under the Police and Fire Prevention and Fighting lines of service, who have or may attain Regular status on or before September 1, 1941; shall receive not less than their established rate of pay on May 31, A. D,, 1941, plus an amount equal to 10% thereof". SECTION 2: That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its becoming a law. D/, 1942, and that said Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least thirty days in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
