A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, NAMING THAT CITY PARK
WITHIN SAID CITY BOUNDED ON THE NORTH BY 22nd
STREET, ON THE EAST BY THE ATLANTIC OCEAN, ON
THE SOUTH BY 21st STREET AND ON THE 'ZEST BY
S ITER IRAN AVENUE
WHEREAS John S. Collins, one of the earliest of the
developers of Miami Beach, who caused the building of a bridge
to span Biscayne Bay, giving access to Miami Beach, and who
caused the Beach to be beautified and made more healthful by
the construction or digging of a canal through its breadth,
permitting the flow of water from Indian Creek into the Bis-
cayne Bay, and who, foreseeing in Miami Beach a City to be known
throughout the country and visited and commented upon by people
from throughout the world, gave and granted for the use of the
residents and visitors of said City a park which is bounded on
the North by 22nd Street, on the East by the Atlantic Ocean,
on the South by 21st Street and on the West by Sheridan Avenue
• and WHEREAS it is proper and fitting that a man who has hathc _ .
interest of said City so much at heart and who has done so much
for its development , that said city park be named in his honor.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
Cite of Miami Beach, Florida, that the above described park
be and the same is hereby named and shall hereafter be known as
COLLINS PARK, in honor of the distinguished John S. Collins.
ADOPTED By the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, this 27thlay of July , A. D. , 1921,
