AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB-SECTION (e)
OF SECTION 9 OF ORDINANCE NO. 251,
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Sub-section (e) of Section 9 of Ordinance
No. 251 of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
reading as follows:
"( e) . Accept or transport a greater number of
passengers than the rated passenger-seating
capacity of the motor vehicle, unless said motor
vehicle shall be designed, built and equipped
for the purpose of carrying standing passengers".
be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows :
"(e) . Accept or transport a greater number of
passengers than the rated passenger-seating
capacity of the motor vehicle, unless said motor
vehicle shall be designed, built and equipped
for the purpose of carrying standing passengers.
The limitation, contained in this sub-section,
upon the passenger-carrying capacity of those
vehicles known as jitney busses, is hereby sus-
pended for the duration of World War II. "
SECTICN 2: This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
measure for the immediate preservation of the safety
and welfare of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, which are in
peril, and for the protection of the citizens of said City, and
shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.

No. 646 entitled, "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB-SECTION ( e) OF
SECTION 9 OF ORDINANCE NO. 251, OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA", having been passed and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in
three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, one of
which was at the door of the City Hall in said City, on the
18th day of March, A. D. , 1942, and that said Ordinance remained
posted for a period of at least thirty days in accordance with
the requirements of the City Charter of the said City of Miami
Beach.
